AIMS and OBJECTIVES

The Aims and objectives of the 'Eye' are still relevant today. In brief, they are as follows:

  • To strengthen and develop local democracy, and the accountabilty of East Riding of Yorkshire Council. We are mainly, but not exclusively, concerned with matters relating to planning, conservation and the environment.

  • We do not seek confrontation. Our mission is to hold the ERYC to its declared intent, which is to have open and transparent government, and to ensure that open and correct procedures are followed.

  • To retain and strengthen town and parish councils.

  • To see an end to closed and emergency meetings of the ERYC. To work towards all meetings being open and comprehensively minuted or tape recorded.

  • To ensure that Council decisions are taken by elected councillors and not by council officers.
